Invisibles ialah film dokumenter yang dibuat oleh beberapa sutradara, dibuat dalam rangka ulang tahun ke 20 dari seksi Spanyol “Dokter-dokter tanpa batas“. Invisibles is a documentary film made by several directors, made for the celebration of 20th birthday of Spanish section “Borderless Doctors”. Five directors made a journey to the site, to give voice for the forgotten conflict victims, the poor and people who suffer from disease.

Setelah kematian anak perempuannya yang masih kecil, Nora, seorang ibu muda asal Bolivia pindah ke Spanyol, supaya dapat menghidupi keluarganya di tempat asalnya. Dengan demikian dia tidak hanya berharap untuk mengurangi kemiskinannya, tapi juga berharap supaya dia tidak tertular penyakit “Chagas” yang telah merenggut nyawa anaknya. Chagas ditularkan melalui kutu Vinchuca yang biasanya hidup di retakan dinding rtmah yang terbuat dari tanah liat. Lebih dari 18 juta orang di Amerika Latin menderita penyakit ini. Tetapi karena orang-orang ini bukanlah pasar yang membawa keuntungan untuk industri farmasi, maka tidak ada obat untuk penyakit ini.
After her little daughter death, Nora, a Bolivian mother moved to Spain, in order to support her family in her hometown. Thus, she does not only hope to reduce her poverty, but also wish to not be infected with “Chagas” disease that causes her daughter death. Chagas is transmitted through Vinchuca bugs, which usually live in the cracked clay house wall. More than 18 million people in Latin America suffer from this disease. However, because these people are not profitable to the pharmacy industry, therefore there are no medicines for this disease.

Countless women became the sexual abuse and systematic mass rape victims. An approximate official record stated that there were around half million of rapes at that time. Only few women on therapy who wanted to tell their frightening trauma.

For more than twenty years occurs a bloody conflict, the government army in Uganda declares war with the rebel, “Lord’s Resistance Army, LRA”. Most of the LRA armies are children, who are forcibly and brutally taken from the villages and trained to be child soldier. Meanwhile, they build a camp with surveillance to protect the children from abuse and kidnapping at night. For security, these little “night workers” take a risk walking in hours every morning and night.

Lebih dari setengah juta orang harus berhadapan dengan kematian yang penuh penderitaan dan pasti, kalau mereka tidak ditangani dengan tepat waktu dan khusus. Satu-satunya obat yang efektif dan miskin efek samping ialah Eflornithin, tapi tahun 1995 ditarik dari pasar karena tak menguntungkan. Sementara Eflornithin di negara-negara industri dapat dibeli sebagai kosmetik, orang-orang di Afrika yang hidupnya terancam seperti Bianca sulit mendapatkan obat tersebut.
During the three decades, the sleeping sickness has evolved become the epidemic in Africa. More than half million people have to face the death that is full of certain suffer, if they do not get the special treatment on time. The only effective drug and fewer side effects is Eflornithin, but in 1995 the market withdrew this drug because it is unprofitable. Accidently, this drug is proven of having the ability to prevent the unwanted hair, so it is reproduced as cream. While the industrial countries can get Eflornithin easily as cosmetic, the life of people in Africa is at stake, like Bianca who is very difficult to get the drug.

Selama 50 tahun Kolumbia didominasi oleh konflik bersenjata. Yang paling menderita karena konflik ini adalah masyarakat sipil, yang hak asasinya dilanggar habis-habisan. For 50 years Columbia has been dominated by the armed conflict. The most suffer from this conflict is the civilians whose the rights are totally violated. The brutal violence, murder, kidnapping and eviction are part of the daily life of the people in the conflict area. There are around 3 million evicted people who have to live in the refugee camp in their own country. With the help of the humanity activists, some of them try to take over a part of their land peacefully—a life threatening effort, but it is their only hope to return on the dignified life.
